"You live in bush. Do you live on a farm? I swear there's no black people there?"

These are the usual responses I receive when I say where I'm from. I never understood why until I observed that the narrative of Black British life was London orientated and generally, Black folk in country spaces seems to be a strange concept.

Country Bumpkins is a cultural journal, archive and documentation centred around the Black diaspora living across rural, small city Britain and other country spaces. The aim is to champion faces, start conversations, and ensure that our history isn't lost in the future.
